Gratitude ? Try starting your day by giving thanks. - LifePath

Gratitude-

Remember as a child; we would fold our hands and say ?Thank you for my food, thank you for my family, thank you for my friends, thank you for my ???? I often thought that was a pretty generic way to express something that seemed to be so important.

One day I read a young ladies post that said ?What if all you had today, were the things you were grateful for?? and I remembered a time in my life when thinking on this very thing made a real difference.

Not so long ago, (2007) at a time when I was spiritually, physically and emotionally broken I read somewhere that if I started my day with ?Thank you? that my day would improve as it went by.? This was a time when I needed it-I needed something.

So, barely able to get out of the bed (with a pretty serious back condition) every morning, as I attempted to put my left foot down I said ?Thank? and with the right one ?You?.? I was in such a state of determination to ?feel better? that as physically painful as it was at the time if I forgot- I would get back in bed and try again. ?(It didn?t take long before I remembered to do it the first time )

Guess what? ?It worked- as the days passed I would begin by looking around at the things in my home, have thoughts of friends and family and more.? Before long I really ?felt? thankful for all things. ?I personally believe this is the feeling Jesus spoke of when he said ?In all things, give thanks? and it no longer felt ?generic?.

Sometimes life throws us situations that are difficult to find things to be grateful for and it takes a little effort on our part.? As when someone we love passes on. ?If we look hard enough we can find something to really feel grateful for -be it the time we spent with them, the lessons they taught us, a recipe for life and more.

Other times it is the fellow/gal that hit banged into the car in the parking lot-or being wronged by, or if someone not doing or acting the way WE think they ?should.?? The gifts we give ourself in those tough situations are always these- 1) We know we have forgiven ? (it is difficult to be grateful and hold a grudge at the same time) 2) We know we have come through it- and the most important of all- is we now have something to share with someone else, and the best part about that is this can be the most gratifying feeling of all.

I believe I walk around in a ?state? of gratitude all the time. ?I can say without hesitation- ?I have everything.?

Have the faith to know you can find that feeling too and if you need to ? try the ?left foot?-?right foot? exercise and let it begin to heal your life.? It works, I promise.

And by the way- if you read this-and would like to talk about situations in your life- please feel free to drop me an e-mail to info@lifepathtn.com (in the subject line just write ?Question?)

Many blessings to you my friends,
