Go for it! There are better sources of protein than greek yogurt, which often has gelatin in it (animal product). If you have money and time, vegan isn?t hard! Some meat alternatives are expensive but if you shop around and find stuff you like you will be able to compare prices and find fascinating tasty stuff that is sometimes just hidden in the grocery pile and doesn?t cost a total lot. Cooking your own stuff is fun anyway?. Make sure you have your family?s support with helping you cook and stuff. At first my parents thought it was a burden for me to be veg but now being later they are used to it and since we cook vegan stuff together I bet they eat like 50% less meat than before.
If you?re doing it for animals, then veganism won?t be hard and if you really care you shouldn?t have cravings for meat or whatever thing? I just recently stopped eating cheese and I thought I would still want it all the time but now whenever I see it, it disgusts me. xD
Anyhow, whatever you do is your choice and if you don?t give up dairy you can get protein from that and you can also eat lots of beans/nuts and total grains. Excellent luck. Maybe I will post my recipe for 15 minute vegan chocolate cupcakes on here later if I have time.
edit~~
yes, you also have to worry about other nutrients like iron and stuff. Mineral deposits are pretty simple to get from veggies/tofu/etc and even though a lot of B vitamins are mostly from animals you can find them supplemented in some common products like muesli or you may possibly just take a supplement. Question your doctor or a dietician if you?re concerned about whatever thing?
Here?s my recipe, which is an experimental thing and made for people to modify how they want?. xP not really sure of nutritional facts but it?s got to be in excellent health than other cupcakes! ^^
Quick&Cheap vegan chocolate cupcakes:
2 cups Baker?s Corner brand ?Baking Mix? or similar product
2/3 cup soymilk
2 tbs vegetable oil
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup chocolate syrup
you can add more of whatever thing to get desired consistency or taste or add dark chocolate chips?.
-Mix everything together in the order it?s listed (while preheating oven to 425)
-Place in baking cups (makes around a dozen depending on how huge you fill them) in baking pan
-Bake @ 425 degrees for around 10-15 mins or until you can insert toothpick and pull it out clean
-Eat batter remnants while baking
-When done cooking take out from oven and place cupcakes on a separate cooling surface
-After cooling a few minutes, eat; or for a better flavor, top with more chocolate syrup!
